Air pollution research within the RETINA project
Within KNMI Datalab, the research on air pollution has an innovative follow-up by the integration of new sensor data.
Within Datalab KNMI startes the RETINA project: Mapping urban air quality with new instruments. This project focuses on the analysis of air quality at street level. To understand air quality several factors are important, like air temperature, wind speed and direction and distances to major roads. New sensor technology provide additional information about local air quality, but asks for an innovative approach to integrate measurement data with air quality models. This Big Data research should lead to high resolution realtime maps for air quality at street level.
